RPD is a family-run, independent construction and steel fabrication business based in Aberdeenshire. Agricultural roots, our own workshop and our own teams — delivering projects the length of Scotland.
OUR STORY
A FAMILY BUSINESS,
ROOTED IN THE LAND.
It is now 50 years since Paul Duxbury first came to the North-East to supervise construction work on agricultural units near Huntly, while working for his cousin's building company. It was here that he met his future wife, Roseanne, and decided to stay.
The company is now managed by two of his sons, John-Paul and James, who have been working alongside Paul for the last 20 years — a genuinely family-run, independent business based near Inverurie, Aberdeenshire.
From steel portal framed buildings for the agricultural sector, RPD has grown into a contractor able to manage every aspect of a project — groundworks, concrete, steel, cladding and completion.

NORTH-EAST BEGINNINGS

2006
STEEL FABRICATION
Rapid Construction Ltd bought a local steel fabrication firm, renamed Forrest Engineering UK, concentrating mainly on the supply and erection of steel portal framed buildings for the agricultural sector.
OCT 2008
RAPID PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
As demand grew for a supplier able to manage every aspect of a project, the company was renamed Rapid Project Development — a title which more suitably described the service on offer.

THE NEXT GENERATION
Based near Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, RPD is now managed by Paul's sons, John-Paul and James, who have been working alongside him for the last 20 years.

Around 25 people work directly for RPD — groundworkers, concrete teams, fabricators, erectors and cladding crews — supported by our own plant and our UKCA / BS EN 1090 approved fabrication workshop. Steel is designed, cut, welded and finished by us, then erected by us.
CAREFUL PRE-PLANNING
Programmes, levels and sequencing worked out before the first machine moves — so the build runs to plan.
SKILLED, SETTLED TEAMS

Our sister company, RPD Scotland Ltd, operates Cowley Farm — an arable and livestock business. That means we understand agricultural buildings from the operator's side as well as the contractor's — how they're used, cleaned, loaded and lived with long after handover.
RPD Scotland also operates a Biogas CHP plant producing green electricity for Rapid Project Development's workshops — so the steel in your building is worked in a facility powered by our own energy.
